Are we alone? Is the Earth unique? Does life or the intelligent one exist merely on this humble planet or it enjoys many more similar abodes across this amazing universe too? These are some of the questions my first book Extraterrestrial Intelligence: Amazing New Insights from Qur'an in the Light of its Own True Nature attempts at answering them from a Qur'anic perspective. The current relations, issues and conflicts internationally have all shown that right now mankind is exists in a critical time in our history which will require all nations to work diligently towards creating a more just global society. Recently, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to discuss some of these issues in front of a congregation of members of the United Peace Federation. For those who are unfamiliar with the UPF, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is a global network of individuals and organizations dedicated to building a world of peace in which everyone can live in freedom, harmony, cooperation, and prosperity. Additionally, the UPF is a NGO that holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.  Since the organization’s founding in 2005, the UPF has promoted many services and global initiatives for the United Nations and below are some of the objectives which the organization hopes to establish.

Probably the most basic tenet of any sacred religious scripture is that it is God's word ad verbatim, at least in its original language of revelation and whatever definition of the "God" might be in each case. By maintaining this tenet, the immediate consequences are that the scripture should be flawless in every possible aspect and it should also be perpetually relevant to human conditions or problems. The qur'an, being one of the books that is held to be sacred by more than a billion people on Earth as Allah's words ad verbatim, inevitably share these characteristics as well. But should it? Should the qur'an be flawless in every possible aspect? And should the qur'an be perpetually relevant to human conditions or problems? This article tries to anwer those questions in one of the multitude of possible answers that could be given.

Moormann’s book is an interesting and pleasant work to read. It is a disclosure of the personal questions Moormann asked herself over the years about life and meaning, and these are questions shared by most humans on earth. Being a product of a pluralistic society and child of an ambassador, from childhood on the different ideas and beliefs mankind has were exposed to her which all claimed to be truths. From this, a list of questions emerged which she slowly found answers for. Questions as ‘what is religion?’, ‘is religion necessary?’, ‘does God exist?’, ‘there are so many religions, which is the right one?’, and many more of these common questions. Self-study and reflection created a set of answers, which she started to explain in her book, the first of a three volume series. As her questions are shared by many people, she wanted to help other people by sharing her own journey.

The Tunisian intellectual Mohamed Talbi is regarded as one of the most critical leading thinkers in the Arab world. In his most recently published book, he denounces traditional Islamic religious scholars and argues for a contemporary reading of the Koran. Rachid Boutayeb introduces Mohamed Talbi

Mohamed Talbi argues for an "enlightened, open-minded Islam" (photo: Beat Stauffer) Mohamed Talbi was one of the founders of the Tunisia University and a follower of Habis Bourguibas, the father of the republic and the only Arab ruler who succeeded in stemming the influence of Islamic conservatism in his country in order to establish a secular regime. Today, Talbi is first and foremost a critical intellectual who never tires of denouncing the police state of Ben Ali. In an open letter, Talbi, who in contrast to many other critics of the regime has not gone into exile, referred to Tunisia as a "gulag for the spirit." In...
